Studies at the University of Tartu take place in Estonian and English languages. The official teaching language for most bachelor's programmes is Estonian, however, there are currently also three programmes available fully in English. Can I apply for more than one programme? It is possible to apply for up to two programmes.
There is no separate application for a tuition-waiver scholarship. All tuition-waiver scholarships are distributed together with the study place offers to the top ranking applicants according the general ranking list. The number of available tuition-waivers varies by programme and by year, therefore please see the section "Tuition fee & tuition-waiver scholarships" on each programme's admission website for specifics.

Before submitting your online application please make sure which documents need to be submitted and when by consulting the requirements at the programme-specific admission page of the programme of your interest. All copies of educational documents (secondary school certificate and grade list/transcript) must be officially certified, i.e. certified copies. Certified copies are documents bearing an original signature and seal of the authority which certify that these are true copies of the original documents. The documents can be certified 1) by an authorized official of the issuing institution, 2) by a notary, or 3) with an Apostille attached. The University does not accept simple copies made on the basis of already certified copies. Some country-specific requirements also specify the way documents must be certified, therefor please be sure to check important information here.
Applicants graduating in the same spring/supper as the application deadline and having their secondary school certificate issued later than the application deadline should electronically submit their most recent grade list (the grades for all their high school year until the time of submitting the application) by the application deadline. The grade list(s) should be supplemented by an official statement from the issuing secondary school indicating current enrollment and expected graduation date. Admitted candidates are required to post certified copies of their graduation documents as soon as these have been issued (no later than by the end of July).
The University of Tartu reserves the right to withdraw or amend any offer or revoke the enrolment of a student, if it becomes evident that the application contains fraudulent information, the qualification does not provide access to the chosen study programme or the student is found to have omitted key information from the application. Should such circumstances occur, the university will not be liable for any material or immaterial loss which the student may suffer as a result.
Admission notifications will be sent electronically through the DreamApply Estonia system. All admitted students must inform the university of their decision to accept or decline the offer by the deadline indicated in their admission notification.
If you think that your application was not treated fairly even though you met all the requirements and followed all the guidelines, you can contest the decision of the Admissions Committee. To do that, you have to send your written contestation to the Student Admissions within one week from the announcement of the decision. The International Admissions Coordinator will then forward the contestation to the chair of the Admissions Committee for review in the Disputes Committee. You will be informed of their decision within 3 working days.
As admission results for all the programmes at bachelor's level will be announced by the middle of June, non-EU applicants might not have enough time to apply for the temporary residence permit in order to travel to Estonia. Getting the permit may take 2-3 months while the academic year starts already at the end of August. Thus, applying simultaneously for a visa is recommended. To apply for a visa you will need the official admission notification that you received via DreamApply (the electronic document will suffice, there is no need for a hard copy). Students accepted to the University of Tartu cannot postpone the beginning of their studies to the next academic year.
Please be aware that those students who have been enrolled to the University of Tartu, and would like to be re-enrolled to the same programme in the following two years cannot study free of charge. Thus, it is of utmost importance that the students starting their studies at the university would inform the university early enough to make sure that their admission could be cancelled before their enrolment and the beginning of an academic year.
