Web-based e-courses
Web-based e-courses are available in the Moodle learning environment
University of Tartu uses e-learning environment Moodle which allows the teacher:
- to post course materials, which may include text files, photographs, video and audio clips, animations, etc.;
- to create opportunities for communication between teachers and learners by means of forums, e-mails and chat rooms;
- to facilitate learning through the use of glossaries, self-testing, links to materials on the Web;
- to evaluate learners progress (tests and assignments);
- to administrate a course (learner and learning outcome management, compilation of statistical analyses regarding learners' work).
Tartu University central web-based learning environment Moodle is accessible at https://moodle.ut.ee and serves to be used by students of degree and continuing education, members of staff and other employees of Tartu University.
Getting into Moodle
Getting into Moodle takes place by means of one’s Tartu University computer network username and password (same as you get into SIS). NB! Students from other higher educational establishments are also entitled to username and password of the Tartu University computer network after being registered as visiting students to TU (ask for your university username in your faculty!).
Access to courses on Moodle
Having registered for a subject in SIS, your lecturer imports you as a learner from the curriculum in SIS to the respective course on Moodle. Thereby you will be sent an e-mail about your registration on Moodle. Getting into Moodle now you will find your course imported to the list of your earlier Moodle courses.
In case your lecturer would not automatically transfer your data from SIS to the respective Moodle course, you will be authorized access to the necessary course on Moodle by means of a key. In that case you will get inevitable information about access to the course from the lecturer – under which category the course is located and what the key to add the course to Moodle is like.
Forgetting username and/or password
Having forgotten your TU computer network username or password you can retrieve your username and password as well as a get a reminder by means of user guide on the phone 737 5500 or e-mail address at ak.abi [ät] ut.ee . You can change your password at https://passwd.ut.ee.
Information for learners outside the University
For those registered for TU continuing education courses via SIS, their Moodle user account will automatically be created and information about the data about the user account and access to courses will be forwarded by e-mail to them.
