Ootame huvilisi 20.-22. novembril Tartus toimuvale häkatonile Rat Relay

Rat Relay on ainulaadne kolmepäevane globaalne tootedisaini häkaton, mida organiseeritakse koos ülikoolidega üle terve maailma.

Rat Relay is unique experience and there are at least 4 reasons to join:

  • You will get interdisciplinary and international experience;
  • You will get to know about design thinking and improve your skills in product design and development
  • You will work with actual challenges from all around the world and give input to challenge related to Tartu.
  • Participating in Rat Relay will be counted as one event in course “Participation in Hackathons (MTAT.03.324)”.

The coaches will supply you with delicious snacks and drink. However, you will still have to bring some materials yourself. Mind the following materials when you go to your slot: Laptop, charger(s), mobile phone, and as your elementary school teachers would say “do not forget to bring a good mood!”

Rat Relay is organised in 6 different slots. Every slot consists of 6 hours of work time (and about 7 minutes for a short survey!) We recommend meeting with your coach 15 minutes before the start of the slot. This gives time to get ready and review the tasks at hand. Here you will find a short description of the differents slots that you might work in:

  • Slot 1: Empathise and redefine - the first phase is a research heavy phase. It is all about understanding the challenge and who you are designing for (their motives, likes, dislikes etc.) and redefining the challenge.
  • Slot 2: Ideate - the main idea generation phase is focused on thinking of solutions for the challenge. The group will have to diverge and converge their ideas during this phase.
  • Slot 3: Prototype - Ideas and concepts are transformed into tangible and testable objects. The goal for this slot is to create prototypes and give clear instructions to the next group on how to create the prototypes.
  • Slot 4: Test - Test is about creating and testing the prototype and documenting the results.  (If, for some reason, the prototype(s) do(es) not work then feel free to reiterate on the concept / prototype)
  • Slot 5: Iterate - The team can give this slot meaning in whatever way they see fit. Iterating on the project can be done through, for example, elaborating on the prototype or testing yet another time but with a different target audience. However, it is important that you keep working on the same project and do not start over again!
  • Slot 6: Synthesize and pitch - The final phase is focused on condensing all the results into a deliverable package for the client. (we can recommend adding the world map visual for more flair!)
