Quantum Computing


The goal of the program to provide a wider circle of interested individuals with basic quantum computing skills, starting with an informal introduction and concluding with the creation of simple quantum programs in the Python programming language.

The studies take place together with the Computer Science Bachelor's programme students according to the schedule.

Learning outcomes

After completing this microdegree programme, the learner:

  • Understands the fundamental concepts of quantum information and describes them using the Hilbert space formalism: qubit, quantum key distribution, teleportation.
  • Knows the concepts as well as the mathematical formalism of entanglement and superposition and can illustrate them in simple cases.
  • Describes the structure of a digital quantum computer: qubit, circuits, gates, and describes quantum computation using them.
  • Uses existing open-source software in the Python programming language (e.g., IBM Qiskit) for computation of simple quantum circuits.
  • Implements the simulation of simpler quantum systems on a gate-based quantum computer or a simulator.
  • Has an overview of the current status and future perspectives of quantum computing.
