Over 50 University of Tartu researchers among nominees for Estonian national research awards
The National Research Awards Committee has approved the following researchers from the University of Tartu as nominees for this year’s research awards.

Today, on 21 November, at 16:00, Rector Toomas Asser presented the university’s honorary decorations at the ceremony in the assembly hall.

Toivo Maimets received the Tiiu Sild memorial lifetime achievement award
On 15 November, the Estonian Research Council recognised outstanding science communicators at its annual science communication conference.

This year’s recipients of honorary decorations have been announced
On 25 October, the University of Tartu senate decided to award the University of Tartu Grand Medal to Professor of International Business Urmas Varblane. Also, the recipients of the University of Tartu Star of Appreciation, Medal, Badge of Distinction and the decoration “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” have been announced.

Best student projects in 2024 selected
On 3 June, the Final Event of the Institute of Computer Science Student Project Contest took place in the Delta Study Building. The authors of 26 projects presented their work at the poster session, and a jury of representatives from the Institute's Chairs selected the winners.
University of Tartu recognised again with "Respecting differences" quality label
On 29 May, the Estonian Human Rights Centre presented the "Respecting differences" label to the University of Tartu for the second time at the joint building of ministries in Tallinn.
Awards of the Cultural Foundation of the President of the Republic given to Hedvig Tamman and Liisa Rätsep
The Young Scientist Award was given to Associate Professor in Genetics Hedvig Tamman and the Young IT Scientist Award to Head of Applied Natural Language Processing Liisa Rätsep.

Student Project Contest 2024
On 3 June 2024, the final event of the Student Project Contest will take place in the Delta Study Building, where participants present their projects to the committee and the rest of the audience at the poster session.
