Announcing the winners of the spring student project contest

We recently wrapped up the spring edition of the traditional annual student project contest. Submissions were made mainly in the Bachelor’s and Master’s categories with only one submission into the first year Bachelor’s category this time. Altogether we received 14 project submissions and it was a tight race.

Third prize in the Bachelor’s category went to Andreas Sepp for his project “Procedural Infinite Terrain Generation with Noise Algorithms”, second prize went to Kadri Samuel for her “Real-Time Face Recognition System for Autonomous Robots”, and Anton Prokopov came in first place with his project “Moving object detection and tracking using dynamic background and foreground separation for the purpose of traffic analysis on mobile devices”.

Additionally the evaluation committee decided to give out two special prizes in this category. One was given to the only submission by first year Bachelor’s students Kristen Kotkas and Kristjan Hendrik Küngas for their project „Urbanify“ and the other to Kristjan Perli for his „Procedural City Generator“.

In the Master’s catgegory the third prize went to Dmytro Chasovskyi for his project “Sequence competition prediction”, the second prize to Anti Ingel for “Improving Classification Algorithm of Brain-Computer Interface” and the winner in the Master’s category was Joonas Lõmps with the project “Hiragana Recognition using Optical Character Recognition”.
