The Institute of Computer Science hosts two conferences on Intelligent Data Science and Blockchain Computing and Applications

On 15-16 November, the University of Tartu Institute of Computer Science will host the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Science Technologies and Applications (IDSTA) and the IEEE International Conference on Blockchain Computing and Applications (BCCA) virtually. Registration is open here until the event's start.

IDSTA and BCCA aim to provide a venue covering all aspects of cutting-edge technologies and applications at the crossing of data science and blockchain, allowing researchers, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest findings in the field. It will also be a venue to share their current knowledge, future directions, and expectations in this new data era.

The conferences are sponsored by IEEE and consist of technical sessions and invited talks presented by leading scientists. At IDSTA, different topics in data science and related technologies, tackling challenging problems and offering inventive and efficient solutions will be discussed. The topics include recent development in data science and edge computing as well as distributed intelligence. Also, it covers big data, ML/AI, large-scale data analysis, and data privacy. Meanwhile, BCCA aims to attract researchers and practitioners in cyber-security to share and exchange their experiences and research studies done with blockchain technology in the academia and industry. The conferences will play a decisive role in developing modern information systems by harnessing machine intelligence and blockchain systems.

Both events are hosted by Feras M Awaysheh, Lecturer of Edge Analytics, Data Systems Group, and organized by distinguished academics from all around the globe. „This year's conferences are unique, as they will take place online due to the pandemic. Yet alongside the challenges, there are also opportunities,“ told Awaysheh. He added that this year’s events have successfully allocated an increased number of paper submissions. In IDSTA, 24 novel papers will be presented from 27 countries in different data science disciplines. At the same time, BCCA will present 27 research papers. Previous editions of the conferences have taken place in Valencia, Spain, Granada, Spain, and Antalya, Turkey.

IDSTA will welcome four keynote speakers of top-level experts from Europe and North America, both from academia and industry. The first keynote is from Prof. Tarik Taleb Aalto University, Finland, who will talk about 6G for Edge Intelligence. The second talk by Prof. Omer Rana, Cardiff University, UK, will focus on Integrating Machine Learning into Edge Environments. In the third talk, Prof. Helen Karatza, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, will leverage cloud and fog computing for real-time applications. Finally, Dr. Srijith Rajamohan, senior data science advocate at Databricks, USA, will present the advances in Machine Learning at Scale pipelines at Databricks, a leading company in big data systems.
