Cloud-native application design and DevOps


This Micro-credential programme aims to provide a theoretical overview and practical skills in the management of computing and software systems and their use in the creation of software applications and services. The management and orchestration of virtual machines, containers, cloud services, clusters and the design and handling of applications and software for such systems are covered.

The studies take place together with the Computer Science Master’s students according to the schedule.

Requirements for starting studies

Computer science, computer engineering, or another IT-related bachelor's degree, or five years of work experience in IT.

Learning outcomes

After completing this microdegree, the learner:

  • Acquires skills in planning; implementation; monitoring and maintenance of server systems and services.
  • Be able to apply different types of cloud services when creating services and applications.
  • Have knowledge of how to scale services and applications in the cloud.
  • Can apply well-known techniques for processing data in the cloud.
  • Has a thorough understanding of DevOps and its necessity.
  • Has the skills to use the software required to build a CI/CD.
  • Can automate the testing, compilation, integration of software packages/modules.
  • Knows the nature of Kubernetes architecture and building blocks
  • Can design microservice-based applications using Kubernetes.
  • Can configure, administer and deploy microservices.
  • Knows how to test, scale and monitor microservices.
  • Knows how to create completely cloud-based applications.
