UT Computer Science and Mathematics Students Participated in Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest

Three University of Tartu (UT) teams participated in the Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest on October 6. One UT team was the best among Estonian participants, accomplishing 11^th position of overall 140 teams.

Oliver Nisumaa, Tähvend Uustalu and Martin Širokov participated in the best Estonian team called Double Cycle Cover. Andres Unt’s and Rando Tõnso’s team Deeply Biconnected was not far behind, finishing on 15^th position. Valeh Farzaliyev, Turkhan Badalov and Nikita Trykunov were members of the third UT team Nullameni which finished 103^rd.

Completing the Nordic contest provides an opportunity to participate in the Northwestern Europe Regional Contest on November 23-25 in Eindhoven. The best teams in Eindhoven qualify for the world’s most prestigious programming contest ICPC 2019 (International Collegiate Programming Contest) finals.

ICPC 2019 will take place in Porto and it will be observed by top tech companies in the world. Therefore, successful participation can create attractive career opportunities for the contestants. Oliver-Matis Lill, Andres Unt and Oliver Nisumaa represented UT in the last ICPC finals and finished on 56^th position.
