Enterprises and institutions are invited to register for the Delta Career Day

The University of Tartu’s biggest career fair – Delta Career Day – will be held for the fourth time on 3 March 2022. On that day, the university’s sports hall turns into a lively exhibition venue where companies can showcase their traineeship and career opportunities. Organisations are welcome to register for the event until 3 February.

The Delta Career Day brings together employers and students of the Institute of Computer Science, Institute of Mathematics and Statistics and the School of Economics and Business Administration. At the event, companies can offer traineeship and promote job opportunities, as well as build their reputation as an employer. Students in turn get an idea of which companies are looking for employees, where to find a good traineeship placement and where they might work in the future.

According to Professor Jaak Vilo, Head of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Tartu, the Career Day is the most important event where a large number of students and companies meet. “In line with the university's objective to ensure that all students who start their studies graduate on time with a diploma, the Career Day’s role is to help make contacts and show students what kind of work they could do and where they could find a job after graduation,” he said.

Vilo said that University of Tartu graduates are highly valued by companies, and the career event allows companies to better present themselves next to their competitors as employers who provide valuable, interesting and sufficiently complex work. “Master’s graduates are ready to take on the most complex work fairly soon after their induction in any company. Such mutual expectation and usefulness is confirmed both by employers’ feedback and by alumni salary statistics,” said Vilo.

In the previous years, 55 enterprises have participated in the Delta Career Day, including, for example, Pipedrive, Luminor Bank, Arvato, Swedbank, Bolt, Wise and many others. According to the experiences of previous years, more than 600 students can be expected to take part in the event.

The Delta Career Day is organised by the University of Tartu institutes operating in the Delta centre: Institute of Computer Science, Institute of Mathematics and Statistics and the School of Economics and Business Administration.

Further information about the Delta Career Day is available on the website of Delta Centre. The event is organised respecting all Covid-19 restrictions in place. If, due to the spread of the coronavirus, people cannot gather physically, we will inform the registered enteprises on 20 January at the latest. In that case, the Career Day will be held online in the Virbela environment, like in the previous year.
